Our trip to Japan has come and gone, with a whirlwind of activity and a lot of new friends made and old ones re-discovered. Art Lee is a fantastic teacher and we all learned heaps from him. We are hoping to get him to come to Tasmania soon so that all of our members can benefit from his teaching. Meanwhile, our busy schedule goes on, and we have just elected a new commitee, who are keen to get Taiko going even more, if that is possible!

Our Quiz Night on the 1st of August was a huge success, with the Cow on Murray St bursting at the seams as the teams battled it out for the prizes. Many thanks to all who helped. We are now a whisker away from our goal of raising sufficient funds for Jen, Lara and Simon to travel to Uluru, and bring Taiko to the Aboriginal people in Central Australia. Thanks also to all who came, and all who bought our fundraising chocolates and bottles of fine wines. There is still more for sale if you want some, contact us!

On Friday 30 April at Moonah Arts Centre, we presented Taiko Drum in concert. Drums, bells, cymbals, shakuhachi, flute, woodblock, plus the dynamic sound which is always associated with Taiko Drum.

We played to a packed audience who loved every second. Well done, everyone.

At Huon Quays on Saturday, April 3, from 9.30 for the full day. With Toshi from the professional group Wadaiko Rindo in Melbourne. Lunch will be provided. Cost: $10 students, $15 others.

Beginners and advanced, all welcome.

All members, both new and old, are all invited to a barbecue at the Salamanca Courtyard, to be held on Saturday, March 6th from 5 pm. There will be food, drinks and entertainment, including a demonstration of Taiko for all of those new to Taiko.

It's free for all Taiko members. So come along and immerse yourself in Taiko this year!

For our older members, remember it's time to pay your annual membership fee ($5) if you haven't already done so.

There will also be a short AGM - the usual stuff, but we will keep it simple. And a vote on changes to our Constitution. The committee has already thrashed this one out in detail, but we will send you a copy of the proposed changes by email.

Our Launceston performance was great - the Festivale is an excellent part of the Tasmanian calendar and we are proud to be a part of it.
